European Presidency
This year, Europe must decide whether it is committed to MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY. Decisions taken at European level on aid and trade reforms in the coming months could make or break efforts globally to tackle chronic poverty.
The UK takes over the Presidency of the European Union (EU) from July to December 2005. This represents an opportunity for the UK to drive forward the EU's development agenda: shaping the European Commission's future work on development co-operation and international trade, and promoting sustainable development that works for people and planet.
For British NGOs and Civil Society Organisations, this is an opportunity to influence policy at the European level, and to build and reinforce bonds with European partners.
